This piece is part of a series of creations questioning the idea of an architectural second skin in which the covering is conceived as a sculpture in its own right.
With its aggressive, spiky aesthetic, the delicacy of this armor is revealed through a weave of glass tubes forming small pyramid-shaped cages. This silver-sheened glass breastplate sits alongside black leather facets, enhanced with hematite beads.
Like chainmail, the 3D weave traces an empty space around the vase, drawing its architecture to create a space of illusory protection.
To make this exceptional piece, Invenio Flory sourced from local suppliers. The beads and glass tubes come from the historic Parisian shop Fried Frère, while the leather was sourced from La Réserve des Arts, a reuse center in Pantin.
